As part of QLD Governments commitment to sustainability and the advancement of regional electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, a new electric vehicle charger has been successfully installed at the Cloncurry Courthouse by Orana Electrical. This installation aims to support the growing adoption of EVs in North West Queensland while promoting cleaner transport alternatives.
The project involved the installation of an Ocular IQ Dual Port Tower 22kW EV Charger, a commercial-grade Level 2 AC charging station known for its durability, smart functionality, and dual-vehicle capability. The charger allows for two electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously at 22kW per port, ensuring efficient and user-friendly operation for public and fleet use.
To ensure the site’s electrical infrastructure remains balanced and efficient, the charger is integrated with a load controller. This intelligent system dynamically manages power distribution based on the courthouse's overall electrical load, ensuring the EV charger operates safely within the capacity of the existing supply. This prevents overloads and maximises the energy efficiency of the site.
