Orana Electrical delivered the upgrade of ageing 690V Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs) supplying the Acid Plant ID fans, addressing ongoing operational issues associated with equipment that had been in service for over 25 years.
The existing ACBs had become increasingly unreliable, with limited functionality and reduced compatibility with modern control systems.
The project involved the removal of the legacy ACBs and installation of new, modern units designed to improve reliability, safety, and performance. A key component of the upgrade was ensuring full integration with the site’s Distributed Control System (DCS), enabling remote switching, monitoring, and status indication.
Scope of works included control wiring, interface integration, testing, and commissioning to ensure seamless operation within the existing system.
This upgrade has significantly improved operational reliability, enhanced control capabilities, and ensured the ID fan supply system meets current standards, supporting safer and more efficient plant operation.
